Microsoft….Meet The New CEO…

A thought from Microsoft….Meet The New CEO…

We blogged recently about Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s previous CEO stepping down from this role and we wondered where Microsoft was going to go as a company from here on in.

Today, Bill Gates has been announced as changing his role from Chairman to Technology Advisor (John Thomson to replace him) and in even bigger news, the new CEO, Satya Nadella, has been announced to the world. With his new CEO role comes various expectations; someone who can finally remove any blockages to Microsoft being the global innovator that it once was, new mind-blowing technologies, products & services and generally Microsoft losing its “big company not being able to move quickly” status.

Today, a new video has been launched introducing Satya Nadella to the world which we will come to shortly but before that, here are a few facts about the latest CEO to one of the biggest companies in the world:

Aged 46, Satya is married with 3 kids and was born in Hyderabad in India in 1967 Nadella has worked for Microsoft for 22 years holding roles such as leading the Software & Services division as well as working within the Cloud Computing, Office and Server & Tools teams Satya’s qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Mangalore University, a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Chicago

It has been rumoured that Nadella was the one who requested Bill Gates to become more involved with the technology side of the business again

His goal is to “change the world through technology” and paraphrases Oscar Wilde’s quote of how he plans to do this “believe in the impossible and remove the improbable”.

Check out Satya Nadella’s interview available here and make your choice about whether you think he is going to finally be the one to change the face of Microsoft. With Microsoft shares rising by 0.7% since the latest announcement it does show that investors are feeling positive – are you?
