Keysoft steals the show at Traffex

Keysoft steals the show at Traffex

After some great feedback following the Keysoft website launch, our next project was to create an exhibition stand for Traffex 2013 at the NEC.

Jodie Cull got cracking on the design, based on Phil Baker’s landscape (nicknamed Bakerville), working with Stage Electrics to create a 3D masterpiece.

The traffic cone seating area was a hit, with other exhibitors wanting to know where they could get them from. The Keysoft stand certainly stood out from the other stands who had gone for a more conventional approach.

The Keysoft guys were very happy indeed, let’s hope the enquiries...

Mill Meadows launches

Mill Meadows launches

Our latest work in the property sector has been on a development in Filey, North Yorkshire.  The Mill Meadows development launches this weekend and we took a trip up earlier this week to oversee the preparations.  The event over this weekend marks the start of the development and the sales process.

We've been able to have a bit of fun with the branding by taking our inspiration from the picturesque seaside location.  Using a nautical theme to name the plots, pin wheels to differentiate the different phases of the development, and even sourcing sticks of rock from local suppliers.

We've...

Animating the web

By Happy Giraffe, posted 18th January 2012 at 12:26PM

The design and digital teams were set the task of bringing energy to life for a pitch for an energy exhibition.  After some brainstorming and creative thinking they settled upon creating a 3D model that would highlight the key messages of the exhibition and the industry and add energy to the visuals themselves.  Once Phil had built the model our attention turned to making this stand out on the web and Matt set about animating the design with a great end result.

We’ve got a few different web projects on the go where we’re using animation in different ways to enhance the sites.  These will...

Big is beautiful

Big is beautiful

We have worked on some big outdoor media in the past but our design team has been put to the test this month with the development of hoardings to wrap around the new Dudley College Evolve campus building. The entire perimeter measures 216 metres in total. The poor Macs are being stretched to their limits with the large format artwork.

The new hoardings form part of a major repositioning of Dudley College which is due to launch in September. The hoardings will be the first part of our work based around the theme of Hands-on Thinking since 1862, reflecting the colleges excellent record...

The Nature of Design

By Studio, posted 28th July 2011 at 11:13AM

I'm currently reading Maggie Macnab's Decoding Design: understanding and using symbols in visual communication, the book explores the power of natures design and how to apply these principles to your own design for effective visual communication. It seems nowadays with so many distractions none of us have enough time to appreciate what surrounds us, which is a shame. So now when I get creative block I find it sometimes helps to return to design in its most natural form, and the video below is one of the most mesmerising examples I've ever seen....sit back and enjoy!!

Happy Giraffe challenge you to rate our logo concepts

Happy Giraffe challenge you to rate our 3 logo concepts. We have designed three concepts for Farmer Gardner's Little Cow Company, a small producer of beef that uses the famous Dexter cow, a short legged variety which you will now see on the hills of Malvern. The company has worked closely with the Malvern Hills preservation group and forms part of their sustainability project. The meat is sold to local restaurants and high quality retail outlets. With this survey we would like to see what you think of the concepts we put together. Once you have completed a couple of questions you can see...

It’s an experience!

It’s an experience!

Well that’s what our two work placement students are hoping to get from their time at Happy Giraffe. This year - after numerous requests and a rigorous process of selection - we have welcomed two bright, young things into our studio. Max Bayliss from Haybridge High in Hagley is gaining some valuable insights into creative design whilst working on a new project to produce a mobile phone brand and packaging. Dan Laws has joined for an extended stay over the summer and is working with the digital team to improve his web knowledge and programming skills. Working alongside...
