Balfor Recruitment

Requirement

Award-winning Birmingham-based recruitment consultancy, Balfor, approached Happy Giraffe for support in both differentiating and repositioning its brand in the crowded marketplace and to inject some fun into its marketing collateral.

The company has specialist divisions in Commercial, Construction, IT, Education, Social Care and Sales and Marketing and needed a new identity which would bring all of these departments together and reflect the company's brand values.

The imagery needed to be innovative, fresh and versatile enough to be applied to a wide variety of media including stationery, brochure, web, internal signage, advertising templates etc. Literature needed to appeal to both employers and potential candidates.

Solution

We came up with fresh new concepts featuring child models and the strapline 'be whatever you want to be', creating a quirkier brand and developing a distinctive tone of voice for Balfor's literature.

You could say that Happy Giraffe has helped Balfor to 'be whatever they want to be'!

Connexions

Requirement

Young people in the Black Country are being asked to share their views on what they want to see for the future to inform Black Country Consortium's 30-year vision for the region. As part of this, a conference and ongoing forum has been established to give young people the opportunity to make their voices heard.

Connexions wanted to give this whole process an identity that would relate to those aged 14 to 19.

Solution

The Happy team worked with a group of young people to understand their influences, likes and dislikes. We held workshops to get their creative input and invited them to work alongside our designers to come up with different identities. Three possibilities were presented to around 100 young people and put to the vote using an electronic push button system - very 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire!'
